Cranio Sacral Therapy
I received my training through the Upledger Institute. I have certificates in Cranio 1, Cranio 2, and Somatics Emotional Release. I have been approved to be a Teacher’s Assistant through the Upledger Institute.
What is Cranio Sacral Therapy?
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle , non-invasive method of evaluating and enhancing the function of the craniosacral system. The craniosacral system consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord, extending from the skull, face and mouth (which makes up the cranium) down to the tailbone area (or sacrum.)
Like the pulse of the cardiovascular rhythm, the craniosacral system has a rhythm. Using a touch generally no heavier than a nickel, the practitioner can monitor this rhythm at key body points to pinpoint the source of an obstruction or stress.
Once a source has been determined, the practitioner can assist the natural movement of the fluid and related soft tissue to help the body self-correct.
CranioSacral Therapy encourages your own natural healing mechanisms to dissipate these negative effects of stress on your central nervous system. You also benefit from better overall health and resistance to disease. It is often used to support healing with headaches, migraines, chronic neck and back pain, chronic fatigue, TMJS, learning disabilities , ADD, autism and much more.
Yoga Therapy
I received my training through Phoenix Rising Sun, and Cheri Clampett. I have been using Yoga Therapy techniques in the classroom and privately for 10 years.
Yoga therapy is an emerging field of practices that use yoga to address mental and physical problems while integrating body and mind. Practitioners work one-on-one or in group settings, assisting clients with yoga postures, sometimes combined with therapeutic verbal dialogue.
Reiki
I have been certified through Sister Mary, Reiki Master, and have been using Reiki for 10 years with clients and students. Reiki, a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Force, is a healing energy therapy. Reiki can provide relaxation, energy, decrease pain, anxiety and promote health, wound healing and release of emotion. Reiki is received through a series of light hand placements on the client’s fully clothed body.
Thai massage
I received my training at the Santa Barbara Body Institute, and typically combine Thai Massage with Therapeutic Yoga. Thai massage is an ancient style of massage from Thailand that involves yoga stretching , rocking and acupuressure. This form of bodywork is usually performed on the floor, and the client wears comfortable clothes that allow for movement. No oils are used in Thai massage
